Cards with Friends is a free, browser-based card game platform. There's nothing to install and no account to create — you open a link, pick a name, and you're at the table.

It started as a way to keep a regular card game going with people who'd scattered across different cities. Video chat plays a non-obvious but big role: half of playing cards with people is watching their face when they draw the card they needed, or don't. So every room has live video and audio built in, alongside the actual game.

Every game runs in real time over WebSockets — when you play a card, everyone at the table sees it move instantly, the same as they would across a physical table. Rooms are lightweight and disposable: create one, share the link, play, and it cleans itself up when everyone leaves.

The game library keeps growing — Crazy Eights, War, Durak, Cribbage, Rummy, Tong-its, Spite & Malice, Garbage, and Solitaire are all live today, each implemented with the actual rules of the physical game rather than a simplified version. See how each one plays on the How to Play page.
